Summer Playground Program 2010 Summer Playground Program 2010 is for Warren Township residents only. It is an old fashion drop-in summer camp. Children decide what they want to do, we provide the activities. Children can enjoy five weeks of games, , sports, arts, crafts, water days and events or just hanging with friends. We will provide the water and games on hot days. Children are grouped according to grade unless they want to be with certain friends. We try to keep a 10-1 ratio. It is not necessary to call the Recreation office when your child misses camp.
Daily and Weekly Schedule The schedules will be emailed to you and placed on the web before the program begins.
Staff The Director and Coordinators are certified teachers or going to be teachers and have many years experience running summer camps. High school Sr. /College students ages 16 - 20 are our counselors. Counselors in Training are 2nd & 3rd yr HS. All staff had full-day training and a 5 hour computer course before camp began. For the safety of your children, we require background checks on all adult staff. We follow State Health Mandated Regulations. CPR/AED/First Aid certified. Kindergarten program will have the same staff with EMT.
Camp Attire and Needs Preferred camp attire is sneakers, hat for outside, sunglasses, sun protection, and water bottle. Send your child with a towel and have them wear a bathing suit under their clothes. Please only a one-piece bathing suit. Children may bring in backpacks. No halter-tops, short shorts or flip flops. No radios, CD players, game boys, etc. are permitted. No cell phones should be turned on during camp unless the parent and Director have a talk. Bring lunch and snack if staying for lunch. No refrigeration is available. Water is available. The Ice cream truck comes every day after lunch. Send your child in with $2-3(a day) in an envelope with their name on it and titled Ice Cream either at the beginning of the week or each day if you want them to have ice cream. A price list will be provided before camp begins.
When visiting camp Please sign in with the Director at the sign-in table. The first day show proof of residency (utility bill, tax bill etc). Please do not stay with your child or eat lunch with your child, it is better for your child and staff if you allow your child to get to know the staff and other children.
Drop off procedure Camp begins at 9 am and ends at 3 pm. Except Monday swim for 1-8th grades (12-3pm) Please do not drop child off early. Park your car, walk your child to the Pavilion and sign-in your child. If the weather is bad camp we will be closed. For information on closings, you may either call the director’s cell phone 908-482-0443 no earlier than 7:30am or check the website at www.weatherclosings.com. In the mornings you will receive and email blast. Parents drop off & pick up child anytime between the hours allowed. Must sign-in and out each day.
Pick up procedure Park your car and come into the Pavilion to sign-out your child. Look for your child’s age group coordinator. Please pick up your child on time, as we have to pay coordinators extra to stay. If you are late, you will be sent a bill of $5 for every 15 minutes. Please watch the weather, if the weather gets bad during the day, the children will be under the Pavilion, you are expected to pick-up your child if it is pouring or going to storm. We will make a call to the parent who has not picked up their child when we make the decision to close. Please try to use your good judgment.

Medical needs Camp will not be able to administer drugs to your child. Nor we will hold any medicines. Please administer medicine to your child either before and/or after the camp. If your child must carry epi-pens for bee stings or inhalers please notify our camp Health Coordinator (EMT). If your child should get hurt you will receive a medical report copy. The Coordinators are CPR/First Aid certified and the emergency squad and/or parent will be called for major problems. Epinephrine/Epi-pens authorization form will need to be signed.
Immunizations According to N.J.A.C. 8:57-4, we must have the parent’s signature that your child has received his/her immunizations against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, pertusis mumps & rubella. See sign-up form.
Conduct The idea of camp is to have fun and be safe. Any behavior problems will be dealt at the camp first and parents will be contacted if the problem continues. The parent must come in with the child to meet with the Director. If the problem persists, the child will be asked to leave camp. Sign discipline policy.
July 29th Family Picnic K-8 invited with parents and siblings. Each family bring a dish or snacks. A signup sheet will be available. Camp will still begin at 9am..Fun and games will run all day with lunch at 11:30. Camp will close at 3pm. This is your time to thank the staff and for the campers to say good-by to all their friends. Please fill out a survey, let us know how we are doing.
Swimming at Warrenbrook Pool Kindergarten does not go swimming. The cost is $3 at entry except for the Option #1 7/8 Travel, this is included in your registration. Send your child with a towel and protection from the sun. (sunblock, glasses, hat etc) Can bring a snack or money for food and drink. You must walk your child in to pool and sign-in also sign-out. The staff will be there by the tables to great you and also watch over your child. If a parent prefers to stay, pay the fee at the door.
Option #1 - 7/8/9th Grade Travel Camp; $100 each week. You can sign-up for 1,2,3,4, or all 5 weeks. Trips will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. See trip list on website. You are also entitled to the Monday swim at Warrenbrook from 12-3 and two days at the playground program on Thurs. and Fri. (NOTE 9th grade is NOT entitled to the two days at the playground). Our same adult staff will oversee this program.
Option #2 - 7/8th Grade NO trips Cost $35/5 wks--This is an old fashion drop-in summer camp. Children decide what they want to do, we provide the activities. These two days are held at the pavilion -Thurs. & Fri; 9am-3pm. You can drop of and pick up anytime between 9 and 3. Also swim at Warrenbrook pool from 12- 3pm ($3 at the door). Children have choice of games, sports, arts, crafts, water days and events or just hanging with friends. We will provide the water and games on hot days. Children are grouped according to grade unless they want to be with certain friends. We try to keep a 10-1 ratio. It is not necessary to call the Recreation office when your child misses camp. Bring lunch and snack if staying for lunch. Water provided.
Complaints/Comments/Compliments If a parent has a concern or complaint please contact the program Director Alicia Sordillo at 908-482-0443 directly. Please do not go to a counselor. Walking & Bike Riding Procedure Only after the parent sends a signed consent letter to the Recreation Director you child will be able to walk or ride a bike to and from the camp, understanding that the Staff is not responsible for your child until he/she arrives at camp and after they leave camp. Once your child leaves camp he/she may not return for the day. They may not leave to get something to eat and come back unless the parent signs him/her in and out. If someone other then your family is picking up your child you must provide a note.
