2010 Yuletide Bonfire

Warren Recreation Commission holds 2nd Annual Yuletide Bonfire

 

Saturday, Jan. 23rd over 300 residents gathered to socialize with neighbors, ice skate and enjoy music and refreshments. They roasted marshmallows and smores; children played on the new playground and took advantage of the warmth from the bonfire and fireplace. “This is a wonderful intergenerational event where everyone can enjoy something!

 

The Recreation Commission would like to thank the volunteers who helped make this happen. Township Committee woman, Carolann Garafola; Recreation Commissioners Karen Manner, Chris Brennan and Mary Ellen Florey, Cub Scout Pack 182, Boy Scout Troop 228, Girl Scout troops 825, 512, 928, 65-197 Warren Blueridge Hunting Club, Warren Fire Dept. bonfire), Warren Rescue squad  & OEM, also the numerous teens, parents and Senior Citizens who helped setup and serve.

 

We could not run this free event without the generous donations from the Warren Blueridge Hunting Club, Girl Scout Troops 825, 512, 928, 304, Boy Scout Troop 228, Cub Scout Pack 182, Lions Club, Bob Marino, Warren StarBucks, Greenbrook Plaza Dunkin Donuts, Forest Lodge, Anderson Arbor Care and Country Squire Restaurant.

Municipal Playground - OPENED October 30, 2009

Located at the Municipal Complex replacing the 68x73 ft area where swings use to be with a burgundy green and tan mega tower, swings and carrousel! It’s loaded with 37 different climbing implements including 2 bridges, 5 slides, in which 2 are very long tube slides. Included is a fun phone ground to ground for the talkative kids. It has a ramp for wheelchair availability (ADA compliance) leading to a small slide and busy panels such as brail, sign language, calypso drum and cylinder planet. There are 4 swings, two ADA compliant swings and a tire swing. Also a tot swing set will be installed near the tot lot.

Ribbon Cutting

The Ribbon Cutting ceremony was held on Monday, November 9, 2009. Mayor Carolann Garafola officially cuts the ribbon joined by several members of the Township Committee and the Recreation Commission.
