New service provides transportation for seniors and the disabled

Do you need a ride?  Senior RideWise is a new pilot program that provides adults 65 and older and individuals with disabilities with transportation.  For an annual membership of $25 and a small cost per mile fee, members can schedule rides with screened, professional drivers who will provide door-to-door assistance.  "The goal of this service is to provide a safe and comfortable ride for individuals who don't drive or who choose not to drive to keep them connected to friends, family and the community," said Joyce Tiemens, senior mobility coordinator for RideWise.

Senior RideWise is available seven days a week, by appointment, for rides to the grocery store, hair salon, bank, post office, pharmacy, medical appointments and social/recreational trips.  Members schedule their trips directly with the transportation provider, Real Life Choices Transit, a Bernardsville-based company that's been providing rides for seniors and disabled individuals for three years.

The program is open to residents of Bedminster, Bernardsville, Bernards Township, Far Hills, Peapack/Gladstone, northern Branchburg (north of Route 22), northern Bridgewater (north of Route 22) and northwest Warren Township (west of Mt. Bethel Road).

For additional information or a registration packet, contact Joyce Tiemens at (908) 704-1011 ext. 13.
